Georgia Tech Site Visit

We also visited GA Tech the same day we visited the GA Dome. We visited their workout facilty which was really cool. A few things I saw there were:

  • Lobby-Get a membership at the desk and sitting area/information board
  • Café-Spot to eat within the Rec Center
  • Upper level-Basketball/badminton courts (6) running track around top/fitness equipment, hockey court, aerobics and athletic class teaching areas
  • Bottom level-Workout area with all work out equipment, rock climbing wall, 3 pools where casual swimming and competitive swimming take place, dressing rooms/offices
  • Places to check out equipment like balls and towels
Jobs that you could possibly get at the facility are:

  • Sports facility director and assistant director
  • Desk check in and check out
  • Lifeguards
  • Equipment watch
  • Cleaning
  • Marketing
  • Working within the café
  • Person in charge of checking out equipment

Georgia Dome Site Visit

Another place we visited in Atlanta was the Georgia Dome. Some things I saw there were:

  • Desk-Place where you sign up for a tour, bathrooms, elevator, Falcon’s locker room
  • Top level-Place for observers from each team to watch
  • Mid level-Suites (major suites and individual suites)
  • Verizon Wireless Club-Buy mid level seats and get full access to club that comes with places to eat and drink and a place to watch the game
  • Plenty of sitting space and places to get food and other things
  • Bathrooms and TVs everywhere
  • Press box-unique because it is on the side not behind the field goal posts
  • Restaurants on both ends of the field
  • Field itself-Hosts both falcons and GA State games

Also some jobs opportunities there would be:

  • Ticket Sales
  • Marketing
  • Work in the restaurants
  • Maintain clubs and sweets
  • Cleaning
  • Tour Guide
  • Sales
  • Media
  • Press
  • Field Maintenance
  • Dome Maintenance
  • Architect
  • CSC work

Turner Field Site Visit

About a Month ago our class visited Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. Some things I saw while I was there:

  • Hall of Fame-Houses the Braves best player’s jerseys along with other memorabilia from the braves past. Tours are booked here
  • Suites and casino- This area has a casino place and houses all the suites that the stadium has to offer along with the 755 Club. Each suite has a TV and couch area and a deck with quite a few seats to sit in and watch the game from outside. The club has its own restaurant and drinking area then an outside deck where you can eat and watch the game
  • Sky deck-Highest point of the stadium where fans can watch the game and there are a few interactive things up there
  • Braves locker room/training area/suntrust club-This area had the braves locker room which is round so the players are never in a corner locker. Down the same hallway is the training facility and the Suntrust Club. The Suntrust club has a restaurant area and a door that leads straight to behind the plate on the field.
  • The field-where the braves play
  • Braves dugout-Manager always stays to the left where the video of the bullpen is. Players no assigned seating
Also some jobs you can get there are:

  • Sports Marketing-Marketing the braves and drawing more fans in
  • Sales-Sales within the stadium and outside of the stadium
  • Ticket Sales-Be in charge of tickets during and before games
  • Tour Guides-Giving tours of the stadium
  • Hall of Fame management-Watching over the area and making sure everything is up to par
  • Security-Constant security within the stadium is needed
  • Team management-making sure the team has everything needed and everything gets done
  • Sports broadcasting-talking about the game on TV
  • Media-Writing about the Braves and their games
  • Umpire-Calling the games
  • Field upkeep-Keeping the field in top shape including grass and dirt and new bases
